And also very cool is this: As we left, I noticed that most of the people in line were new voters, young and caring. I wanted to go up to each and every one of them and say, Welcome! This is one of the things about being a grown-up that carries a great deal of responsibility--and which will always make you feel good. You have a place in the US, and it starts right here, at the ballot box. Choose wisely. I am so glad to see that you care. It's a beautiful fall day, and yet you opted to come inside and vote. The future is in your hands--and it starts today.

I'm more ambivalent, I suppose: on the one hand, I tend to have a cynical, George-Carlin-esque attitude towards how much impact we actually have as individual voters, but on the other, I'm a hopeless idealist...so I keep voting. ;)
Part of my family voted yesterday and was also quite pleased with the folks who were there choosing to make a difference. I am deciding to wait and participate in the BIG DAY. Somehow it seems right.
On another note... I did not know you blogged and even more importantly perhaps.. I did not know you knit! So thanks for the fine words and if you ever wish to get together to knit or talk sticks and string. Give a shout. Deanna
Good for you! I keep debating about voting early... I kind of like going to the polls on election day. It just feels so patriotic.

I had to drag my flu-infected daughter out of bed so we could both vote. It's such an important part of being an American citizen, I can't understand why anyone wouldn't do it.
But I'm glad it's over.
